MASTER CRAFTSMAN OF LEATHER TOYS (NATIONAL AWARD WINNER)

Profile of Artist:

Shareef Khan was born in a family of skilled artisan in Madhya Pradesh (Indore). Like any other child Shareef use to play with the toys that were crafted in his own family. Very soon he picked up the skill of making leather toys from his father who was a professional craftsman.

Shareef completed his graduation and then joined his family business. They are manufacturers of wide range of leather animals. They started the production of leather toys in1950, the oldest leather toys manufacturers in Indore city.

Shareef Khan has participated in many exhibitions and workshops all over the country and worldwide.

As a dedicated master craftsman he has trained many other women and men who are now become self independent. The beautiful leather toys manufactured by Shareef Khan is exported in abroad, especially in the markets of Thailand, Germany, France and U.S.A.
